-, dom fighters Conference in Accra, the UDENAMO was introduced to all freedom fighters as a mouthpiece of the Mozambique people. At the same time there was another organization in Dar es Salaam the MANU (Mozambique African National Union) to whom UDENAMO proposed unity. In May 1962, MANU accepted the formation of the Front and in June of the same year, the formation at the Front was confirmed during the Freedom Fighters Conference in Accra. There were some difficulties in the formation of the Central Committee of the Front and at the same time Dr. Mondlane went to Dar es Salaam and joined the UDENAMO 3 days before the elections. On June 25, 1962, the Front was formed with Dr. Mondlane as President, Uria Sinango as Vice President, Mabunda as Secretary General, Gumane as Deputy Secretary, Matthew Mole as Treasurer, Malinga as Cultural Secretary and Leo Milas as Information Secretary. Before the formation of the Front, Gwambe expelled Marcelino dos Santos from UDENAMO when dos Santos was trying to bring Gwambe to a better understanding of the political situation. In September 23-28, the first Congress was held in Dar es Salaam where the Constitution of FRELIMO was approved. For the realization of the Congress it was proposed a Preparatory Committee in order to discuss the names of the candidates for the Central Committee. In this Congress, some members were nominated without the approval of the Congress which resulted in misunderstandings among the member delegates. Some members of UDENAMO protested through Mabunda and Gumane to the Central Committee and from there resulted the formation of two groups in the Committee. As a result of misunderstandings, Mabunda, Gumane and others were expelled. ~:8- THE COLONIALIST AND IMPERIALIST FORCES SUCCEED IN DISORGANIZING THE FORMATION OF THE FRONT The expelled members of FRELIMO felt the necessity of re-organizing themselves and formed the new UDENAMO. Through the UDENAMO magazine (COMBATE) the Central Committee proposed to all nationalists the formation of a true Front. WE ARE AGAINST SEPARATISM We deny the fact of being called separatists because of the formation of the new UDENAMO. 1. UDENAMO was not formed t0 com- . pete with other organizations. 2. UDENAMO was formed to protect the people's rights from stooges. 3. UDENAMO proposes the formation of a new and loyal Front which v/ill not be aligned in any military block. Therefore, until the formation of the new Front, UDENAMO struggles for : 1. The preparation of the nation to fight in action. 2. Will not compromise with imperialist and colonialist forces. 3. Adheres to Pan-Africanism for the emancipation of the people. Condemns : Supporters of reforms which boycott the peoples struggle. — condemn people in the struggle who are fighting not for the nation, but for their interests. — Wte condemn those who bring discord among the masses. We condemn those who plan to make useless revolts which will result only in mass murders by the colonialist forces. People who plan those useless revolts don't know anything about the Mozambique problems and process of Aftican nationalism. Political consciousness is not enough. We must create through a .strong organization a spirit of revolution among the people. This is the only way to give power to the labourers and workers of our country. DOWN WITH RACISM ! . Racism has been created by colonialism and imperialism. We definitely refuse any imperialist doctrine. It cannot survive in our future. DOWN WITH EXPLOITERS ! Our struggle is against the colonialist police and military forces. We are against exploitation. We stand for unity and freedom for Mozambique. LONG LIVE MOZAMBIQUE !
