2 - own initiative, courage, determination and through our spirit of defying hardships for the liberation of our dear oppressed people wo 'werrfcinside the country, and from 21st October to 23rd Docemb r 1965* we ^avc' annihilated more than 58 (fifty Eight) Portuguese troops and wounded many others in the areas of ZAMBUE, ZUMBO, FINGOE TETE, and MANICA SOFALA districts. During all our operations wo captured many war materials which have helped us and which arc still in use by our guerrilla forces inside the country. As aresult of all these operations, tho Portuguese retaliated by massacring" in discriminately men, women and children and a.t>0U"fc 20,000 to 25,000 people have been loft homeless after their villages were burned by the Portuguese troops, and all what these people could do was only to follow our guerrillas in tho mountains and at the same time over 6,000 other crossed the boundaries into tho Republic of Zambia. Faced with this situation of not only fighting against tho Portuguese colonialism, but also taking caro of the living of ovcr20,000 to 25,000 p people now taking refugees in the jungles and mountains and expanding our armed revolutionary struggle in Mozambique our Provisional Action Council has decided to send this delegation to petition and at the same time to appeal for your 00—operation. Your Excellencies, Honourable distinguished guests in the struggle for the emmancipation of Africa, wo arc sure that you will do all your best to deal with our question with justice and deep consideration in relation to the struggle in the still dependent countries, because wo feel we have every justification to receive, for recognition by the Committee. On behalf of our Provisional Action Council, the Military Committee of our Movement and the millions of our oppressed people, wo wish this distinguished gathering all success in all its deliberations fur the consolidation of Unity amongst the African Independent Nations, serving the face of Africa from neo-colonialism and strongthning the progressive forces for the liberation of our dear beloved continent.
