I 3 AFRICA 16 January 196^- "We oppressed people in Asia, Africa, Latin America and all progressive people throughout the world should unite closely, as called upon by Chairman Mao in his statement, in our common struggle against U.S. imperialism." Gumare, voicing full support to the Panamanian peoplels struggle, said: "The Panama Canal belongs to the Panamanian people. We hope they will never cease their struggle until they completely free themselves from U.S. domination.n L. Nelengani, vice president of the People's Organization of South-West Africa, said: "The People's Organization of South-West Africa is fully behind Chairman Mao's statement and behind the Panamanian people's struggle against U.S. imperialism. Nelengani demanded that "the United States quit Panama and all territories they occupy illegally, such as China's territory of Taiwan and South Vietnam. Once the U,S. imperialists get out, the world situation will change for the better." Nelengani noted: "The United States also controls the mineral wealth of South-West Africa. We are in the same situation as Panama today, so I feel all the oppressed should close their ranks against U.S. imperialism." Davis Mpongo, representative of the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) said: "We fully support Mao Tse-tung's statement calling upon the Afro-Asian and Latin American people and all progressive people the world over to form a broadest united front against U.S. imperialism." The ZAPU representative demanded that "the United States leave Panama and. all places where it is committing aggression." Katjimu Veii, representative of the South-West Africa National Union, remarked: "Chairman Mao's statement encouraged the Panamanian people in their struggle against U.S. imperialism and again showed how the Chinese people under his leadership are on the side of the oppressed- people." Veii said: "The U.S. aggression against the Panamanian people is a lesson for those people who as of today still do not understand U.S. imperialism, which by its very nature carries out a policy of exploitation and suppression of the people throughout the world." Bobby Mack, representative of the Bechuanaland People's Party, declared: "All oppressed and progressive people the world over should support Chairman Mao's call for a broadest united front against the U.S. imperialists. He said: "Although the U.S. imperialists are continuing to encroach on the sovereignty of Panama, they will be ultimately ousted by the people there. The Panama canal does not belong to the Americans, it belongs to the Panamanian people." Bobby Mack demanded that the United States remove its military bases in Africa. Ramaqele Tsinyane, Basutoland Congress Party representative, stated: nWe appreciate very much Chairman Mao's statement condemning the U*S. aggression against the Panamanian people.
