2. an ambush on tic shore of LUGENDA River. Y/hon the enemy was crossing the river, they wore attacked• 18 Portuguese soldiers v/ere killed, among whom a captain, the commander of the company. Two days latpr, our guerrillas destroyed a bridge 30 meters long, on the road lJANDIiviBA-CATUR. $.*. On the "7th of April one "Jeep touched a mine, on the road MANIA&BA-VILA CABRAL: all the 6 soldiers v/ho were in it v/ere killed. The "Jeep" v/as completely destroyed. 6... On the 11th of April, a group of guerrillas attacked the Anglican Mission of KESSUM3A, now transformed into a Portuguese military base. Three enemy soldiers v/ere killed. 7-.o On the 12th of April a unit of PRELIMO guerrillas attacked with bazooka and machine-gun fire a boat loaded with soldiers, which was moored by the bank of Niassa Lake. 11 soldiers v/ere killed and others were wounded. 8... On the 17th, a guerrilla unit attacked the Portuguese military camping of ASSUMANE, in Vila Cabral, in the zone of MASSENJERE. In this attack 8 soldiers v/ere killed and 2 military policemen v/cre wounded. 9...On the 24th of April, an enemy patrol which was camped near NOVA GUARD A v/as attacked, at 2a.m. The place v/here the Portuguese soldiers were sleeping was strafed with bazooka and machine- gun fire. We do not know, however, the casualties the enemy suffered. - .. 10... On the 30th of April our guerrillas attacked a convoy of 30 Portuguese military vehicles on the road between MASSANGULO and the railway station of CATUR, 3 kms. from the station. One of the vehicles v/as completely destroyed, and j others were badly damaged. At least 15 enemy soldiers were put out of action. 11... On the 4th of Mqy , 2 military vehicles were ambushed on the road between the enemy camp of LULI&BO and NOVA OLIVEN^A. The vehicle behind was destroyed v/ith bazooka and machinegun fire. The front one went on undamaged/ However, our guerrillas had placed a mine further down the road: the car touched the mine and was destroyed. All the 14 soldiers who wer.? in the 2 vehicles were killed. . 'V: 12...On the 9th of May- 2 military units of FSELIaviO ambushed a group of many soldiers., in *IEP0CHE. 10 enemies were killed. 13•••10th of x.iay: our guerrillas ambushed a convoy of 38 vehicles loaded with troops, on the road between LflASoANGULO and Vila Cabral. 2 "Jeeps'1 in the rear were attacked and destroyed. All the 12 soldiers who were in them were killed. 14*••19th of iiay: a convoy of military vehicles going from Vila Cabral to MA3L>AI\GUL0 entered a zone mined by our guerrillas.
