- 3 - Great Powers Cooperate with Portugal Against the Defenseless People of Mozambique We people of Mozambique know that we are struggling not only against the Portuguese who want to continue their shameful policy of colonialism, genocide, exploitation and slaveny but also against their allies, the biggest powers of the world. It is not Portugal itself which maintains the armies in Mozambique, suppling them with bombs, planes and other military materials; its allies supply them purposely to make Portugal strong and able to carry out the war against our aspirations of independence, freedom and equality. It is true that the United States has given Portugal military assistance of $268 million as has been show by information given in the 1962 issue, No. 9, of the "Voice of Africa". The Portuguese force has received British armed trucks of the Humber type, military trucks from West Germany and incendiary bombs from the United States with which they burn our villages. West Germany has sent a good deal of automatic weapons, granades, aircraft and other types of armament. 2/ "In the fall of 1961 the factories of the Federal Republic of Germany delivered sixteen military aircraft, and in February, 1962, they delivered another sixteen. These aircraft were delivered to Luanda, where they were assembled and armed with United States rockets. 'he allies of Portugal not only arm the colonizers and supply them with financial resources but they have also taught them to fight against the guerilla movement in the territories. The correspondent of "Le Figaro", Max Clos, who recently returned from Angola, reported that in each Portuguese battalion there is an officer who underwent a course of training in the French colonial forces and that all of them apply in practice the French experience of colonial wars in Indo-China and Aigeria#»» 3/ Why are these powers interested in helping Portugal to carry out its program of extermination of our people? They not only supply Portugal with military material and financial resources, but they also do not want to vote against her at the United Nations and other international organizations. We suspect that these powers help Portugal in order to defend their interests and investments which are in our countries. 2. Security Council, S/PV.1041, July, 1963, pages 24-25. 3.
