6. peoples. The colonial peoples and the Portuguese people fight the same enemy: the fascist government of Salazar, which serves national and foreign monopolies." Of course our independence does not depend upon the victory of the Portuguese opposition. It is not in our nature "to sit at the door of our home, waiting to see the cadaver of colonialism passing." We have proved this already when we took up arms to sweep colonialism from our country. The Portuguese opposition interests us to the extent that it represents another fighting front (important because it is located in Portugal) to add to those which already exist in Guinea, Mozambique and Angola. The savage murder of Humberto Delgado is only one in a long series of crimes perpetutated by the PIDE against those v/ho most decisively have opposed the fascism and colonialism of Salazar. ^These crimes prove that the Portuguese people are also subjected to brutal repression. They show the necessity for the Portuguese people to accelerate their revolution. ********* FOURTH AFRO-ASIAN PEOPLES' SOLIDARITY CONFERENCE From the 9th to the 16th of May, the Fourth Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Conference met in Accra. FRELIMO was a member of the Conference and was represented by a delegation composed of Brothers Marcelino dos Santos, Secretary of External Affairs, Francisco Sumbane, Secretary of Health, and Feliciano Gundane, Assistant Secretary of Defense and Security. At this Fourth Conference, a resolution was approved declaring the 25th of September, the day of the start of our armed struggle for liberation, the Day of International Solidarity with the Mozambican People. Also, FRELIMO was elected to membership on the Executive Committee. The following is an excerpt from FRELIMO's speech made by Brother Marcelino dos Santos, leader of the delegation: "...Since the beginning of our armed struggle, the Portuguese government has tried to intimidate the independent countries neighbouring Mozambique, particularly Tanzania. "I do not need to tell you how deeply we appreciate the solidarity of Tanzania. However, I will take this occasion to speak again of our debt to Tanzania, and give public homage to the people, the government and the Head of States of Tanzania for the firm determination with which they face the threats of Portuguese colonialism. After having launched a world wide propaganda campaign to create the impression that the military action in Mozambique is due to "rebels coming from the exterior", the Portuguese government declared: "Since the Americans are in South Vietnam, why should we not attack Tanzania?"
