12 freedom fighters and people have shown is proof of the political maturity of the Mozambican people. In spite of the worst retaliations of the Portuguese forces our people are standing firm and strong. The strictest co-operation exists between our guerrilla fighters and the civil population, each person is playing his part and accomplishing his patriotic duty.' Because of this,- our struggle, which began in several place, at Lugela, Mueda, from TaOuane to Vilancules or Boane, is gaining strength setp by step. The day of freedom is approaching. Nevertheless we must be vigilant, the Portuguese do not only use force to try and stop our march to freedom, but.they attempt to use disguised and underhand methods to divide us. At this very moment the Portguese authorities are making a great effort to gain'the support of our compatriots, giving them political honours, administrative privileges, etc., slandering FRELIMO in order to convince the people to accept Portuguese policy. But we must not be deceived, all the honours, all the psycho-social action, all the slandering are only desperate manoeuvres which Salazar is attempting in order to maintain his regime. We must therefore double our efforts and unmask all thse criminal efforts which the Portuguese are trying in an attempt to divide us, as they will use any means available to them. We must constantly increase our efforts, individually and collectively we must present a solid united front to the enemy. We must unite more and more within FRELIMO. Only in thi3 v/ay will we be able to confront Portuguese colonialism victoriously and therefore create the most favourable conditions in order to realise the social objectives of our Revolution* Parallel with the activities within the country, FRELIMO continues diplomatic activity outside the country, consolidating and forming alliances with governments and organisations engaged in the merciless struggle against colonialism and imperialism. On the general African scene, FRELIMO, whcih, since 1963 was unanimously recognised by the O.A.U. as the vanguard of the Mozambican people, finds the greatest understanding and solidarity. Oun relations with the nationalists of the other Portuguese colonies, as well as with the other countries still under the colonial yoke, are becoming more and more concrete and co-operation becomes firmer. The independent African Countries continue to express their solidarity v/ith us and give us moral and material support. There is an increasing co-operation and friendship between FRELIMO and the Governments and political organisations of these countries.
