•5 \ 2. On the 30th November, in Mocuba, Zambezia District, 37 Mozambican women v/ere arrested by the Portuguese authorities, accused of giving support to.the fighters. The women were tied together by the neck and put in the charge of 10 Portuguese and 4 African soldiers who were to conduct them to Quelimane on foot, a distance of about 200 kilometers. Our militants ambushed the colonialist soldiers, killing 11 and imprisoning 3; two Portuguese and one African. They were taken to one of our military bases and all the women were set free. 3. On the 7th December, v/e attacked the Administrative Post of Muidumbe. Three Portuguese were killed and 4- wounded, and the post and residence of the officials were destroyed. One of our militants was wounded. 4-* On the 9th December a convoy of 4 'jeeps1 was ambushed by FRELIMO militants in the region of Lidimo, on the Namau road. The cars were coming from village where Portuguese soldiers had goi 2 for reprisal action. Five women and three children had been killed by the Portuguese and one man gravely wounded. Our men destroyed the cars v/ith mines and hand-grenades and killed the 20 soldiers v/ho were in the rjeeps'. 5* On the 12th December, at 6.0 a.m. a Portuguese force composed of 4-0 cars, a great number of soldiers and 4- war planes encircled the bush in the region of Imbuho, where the people of that area had taken refuge some weeks before. The area was bombed; the population, however, was nob there as they had been transferred by our militants to another place a week before as a precautionary measure. During the operation our fighters did not oppose the Portuguese v/ith frontal resistance. Only, two of our militants had been.placed at a strategic .point near the attacked zone in order to shoot down the planes. One of the planes, belonging to the Portuguese Air Force, and -carrying Major Santos Gomes, 2nd Commander of No. 5 Air Base at Nampula was shot down. bt On the 14-th December, in the District of Mozambique, "a civil plane-was shot down by .our militants. The plane was flying very low; due to this fact the crew did not die but were only seriously wounded. The plane was overflying;and inspecting one of the zones we had attacked. 26th December 1964
