FPELIMO IN ZAMBIA 0O0 The Vice President of FRELIMO, Uria SIMANGO, visited Zambia (former Nothern Rhodesia) last February. During his stay he talked with the Zambia government and the UNIP. These talks served to strengthen the relationship betwen FRELIMO and Zambia. Mozambican Revolution reproduces the full text of the press conference held by brother SIMANGO during his visit; "It is a pleasure that today I meet for the first time the Press of Zambia, in a free Zambia. It is my first time to be in Zambia, This is the meaning of ^reedom, independence, that world fights for. I wish to congratulate again the first Prime Minister, Dr,Kaunda, his lieutenants, his party UNIP, on behalf of my people, of my movement, of our President and of myself, on their grandiose victory in the last elections. I wish to thank the government and UNIP for the wonderful hospitality and facilities accorded to FRELIMO to organise all Mozambicans troughout Zambia. FRELIMO, which has already spread out and established itself in all corners of Zambia is here to organise, unite and mobilise all Mozambicans efficiently, creationg in them good conditions to fight hopefully and determinately for the freftom of our people and country. To all Mozambicans inside Mozambique and those working or residing in nearby countries, Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanganyika, Zanzibar and Kenya, I appeal to and urge them to remain united strongly in FRELIMO as they are they should more dedicatedly organise themselves and contribute as much as they can to the liberation of our motherland,, It should be known by'our people and the outside observer that the Portuguese are not willing to hear our demand. There isn't a single possible chance to approach the Portuguese Government to negotiate for our Independence. FRELIMO wishes to inform our people that we should not entertain the hope of being given our land back. Our voice will never be heard by the Portuguese colonialists. Instead, they are working hard to make it the second South Africa. Notwithstanding, time will not permit them to do so. Therefore, we are, in our own, finding means of taking back our freedom and restoring our lost prestige and dignity and the denied human rights, proclaimed and endorsed by the United Nations declaration of'December lVth, i960. The Portuguese, in reaction to FRELIMO's activities and massive organisation, have decided to arrest, Jro imprison and to kill our people as a mesure to impede Mozambique from becoming free and independent. However, the Portuguese should know that even as the sun must rise from and set on the different cardinal points, Mozambique will be free and will have a majority government, the right rule Mozambique will be restored to its rightful owners, and this will take place very soon. We are groaning under the worst kind of imperialism and colonialism ever experienced in the history of the mankind. The Portuguese rule of terror and gunpoint must come to and end immediately. The present situation in Mozambique cannot be born by anybody. Some forty thousand (M-0.000) soldiers are scattered throughout Mozambique. They have no respect for African women. Their men
