Title | Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO). Communique no. 76 (1966 Nov. 15) |
Description | Reports that the FRELIMO guerillas attacked the administrative center of Mueda on October 10 and 11. On October 12, a Portuguese soldier deserted and surrendered to the guerillas. While being interrogated, he told them of the bad treatment the Portuguese soldiers were getting from their officers, that there are many casualties among the Portuguese troops. The soldiers are usually sent to the bush for periods of 15 days to localize and fight the guerillas. In the bush they do not obey or respect their officers and if the officer forces them to go the a dangerous zone, the soldiers kill their officer. It also reports the attacks and ambushes done by the guerillas against the Portuguese soldiers in Cabo Delgado Province during the month of October 1966. |
