EDITORIAL From the 3rd to the 8th of October the 2nd Conference of the Nationalist Organisations of the Portuguese Colonies (CONCP) met in Dar Es Salaam, The member organisations of the Conference are the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO), the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (lYIPLA), the African Party for the Independence of Guine and Cabo Verde (PAIGC) and the Liberation Committee of S. Tome and Principe (CLSTP). They mere all represented by their top leaders. The need for this Conference had been felt for a long time. Almost five years had passed since the 1st Conference, in Casablanca, in April 1961. The lines of action laid down then were nouj obsolete due to the changes brought about in our countries by the armed struggle. The existence of war in Mozambique, Guinea and Angola, against a common enemy - Portuguese colonialism - made a closer cooperation among the respective liberation movements imperative. Cooperation, however, is possible only where there are common principles. It was necessary therefore that our parties sound each other out, and each of us define clearly our position, in order to establish one basis for our common work. The great value of this Conference was precisely that it revealed an almost absolute community of view points among the member organisations of CONCP, concerning the fundamental aspects of the revolutions which are taking place in our countries. It is enough to say that all resolutions were approved unanimously. This unanimity is based on the fact that the four organisations derive directly from the people and express the interests of the popular masses. The aspirations of all peoples are the same, all of them want freedom, justice and progress. Therefore, there could be no differences among us. The Conference ended. The delegates returned to their work, within their respective parties. The press announced the Conference, gave a certain amount of publicity to its works and published some of its resolutions. The Conference ended? for us, members of CONCP, the real work now begins. Talks, in fact, are useful only to the extent that they are the prelude to action. The Conference established adequated forms of cooperation among our movements, namely in the political and military field and in the field of national reconstruction. It is necessary to implement this cooperation. At this moment the heads of the 4 movements, who went to the OAU Conference in Accra, are meeting in order to put into immediate operation the systhem of political and military cooperation.
