Photograph (engineering notebook photoprint) looking north from point 150 feet south of 26th Avenue, Los Angeles County. Note Ocean Front Walk (between guard rail and fence) covered with sand and washed out north of 26th Avenue. This was the result of a 6.2 tide on 9 January 1940 accompanied by heavy ground swells and 30 foot breakers which did considerable damage to piers and ocean front property between Newport Beach and Malibu along the route of the proposed "Ocean Front Walk" location of State Route 163 between Santa Monica and Redondo. Also visible are: houses, Ocean Park Pier in background, utility poles and lines, pedestrians, beach, ocean. Legible signs include: "26th Ave."
