Note heavy erosion of beach. Sand cut down 6 feet or more. Dead seal washed ashore in rain. This was the result of a 6.2 tide on 9 January 1940 accompanied by heavy ground swells and 30 foot breakers which did considerable damage to piers and ocean front property between Newport Beach and Malibu. Also visible are: a few houses, ocean.
