Photograph (engineering notebook photoprint) looking north from foot of 64th Avenue showing erosion around house formerly owned by Mae Murray, Los Angeles County. Construction of the rock jetties for the new Ballona Creek Channel between 60th Avenue and 62nd Avenue is probably responsible for the erosion. This was the result of a 6.2 tide on 9 January 1940 accompanied by heavy ground swells and 30 foot breakers which did considerable damage to piers and ocean front property between Newport Beach and Malibu. Also visible are: beach, other houses, oil derricks, street lights, ocean. No legible signs.
