In view of occasional motoring mishaps, it is quite comforting to realize that the Highway Patrol of the Automobile Club of Southern California, continuously patrols the thoroughfare shown on the opposite side of this strip map, as well as practically all other main thoroughfares in the thirteen southern counties. During a period of five years, the Highway Patrol cars of your Club have traveled more than 3,000,- 000 miles over these highways, constantly rendering aid to Club members. The patrol cars are manned by veteran mechanics in specially equipped automobiles, and their duties consist of medical and mechanical first aid, towing stranded motorists, changing tires, furnishing gasoline in a reasonable quantity to those out of fuel, removing broken glass from the roads, aiding in the straightening out of traffic jams, posting detour signs, watching for stolen cars and furnishing road information upon request. They ^re the "Good Shepherds" of Southern California highways. They charge nothing fortheir service and accept no fees.
