151; New product ideas come from anywhere in the Corporation and sometimes from suppliers. The product development program of this firm includes the following phases: (1) new product ideas are evaluated by the New Product Committee; (2) a product survey is conducted; (3) management decided the value of the idea and, if the idea is approved, (*+) one man is given the responsibility for the program; (5) engineering drawings are made, followed by a (6) proto-l type; (7) drawings are revised, if necessary; (8) a new j prototype is built; (9) the product is reviewed, and (10) J if approved, is released to production. ' A particular development difficulty of the Corpora- jI tion has been that of obtaining enough experienced engi- 1 neering talent. This problem has been met, to date, by i securing inexperienced college graduates and training them.i This has slowed down development to a degree and has j required more supervision. Additionally, the fast rate !I required of development has placed an added strain on the 1 Corporation. It is hoped that future programs can be carried on with little publicity until the finished new product is about to come off the production line. The Fisher Research Laboratory was incorporated in 19*+6 to take over the proprietorship founded by Gerhard R. Fisher. The Corporation produces three major groups of
