Many are poor prints which have lost in quality over the years. - Text on the original box: "All pictures from Nyasoso. Rev. Walker." Someone has added: "Not only Nyasoso. The little album from Weise (BV 2651)", though the reference to the "little album from Weise" is obscure. These pictures were divided up into QE-30.011 (Cameroon pictures) and QS-30.048 (portraits of individual missionaries). - In spite of their sometimes indifferent quality the pictures in this entity make an interesting complement to those in the "Official series". NB we have decided to ascribe those photographs in QE-30.011, where we have no contradictory information, to Gottlob Walker as photographer, and the dating corresponds to his period of service in Cameroon. The early date of his arrival - 1887 - means, however, that many of these picture carry 01.01.1887 as the earliest possible date. It is very unlikely that Gottlob Walker was taking photographs this early. But so far we have found no way of obtaining more accurate chronological indications of when he first started using a camera. (PJ 08.2002).
