Note translation: Judging by our internal archive system this file will only in exceptional cases have photographs from earlier than the return of the Basel Mission to Cameroon after the First World War. Indeed, the documentation indicates that the file contains almost exclusively photographs taken by the missionary Hans Wildi after his first arrival in Cameroon in the 1920s. However the file does contain some photographs which demonstrably were taken after 1945 (those of CPC Bali and the opening ceremony in Fotabe) and this may well apply to other photographs too, especially the contact prints of settlements and landscapes around Buea, nos. 147 -177.
