Mrs. Tsiranana (wife of the president of the malagasy republic) with, on her left, Lucie Burgurieu, missionary of the Société des missions évangéliques de Paris (Paris evangelical missionary society).; Influenced by the independency of the country, the three main protestant missions in Madagascar changed into malagasy Churches, led by malagasy reverends, since 1958. The French Protestant Mission (MPF), mission of the SMEP in Madagascar, became the FPM (Eglise protestante à Madagascar or Protestant Church in Madagascar) in 1961.
