The Victory Baptist Church, was organized Aprp.1 4, 1943, with fourten
members, who had put their faith and trust in 8G0D.
The first place of worship was in a store front at 941 E.42nd St.
Due to the fact three churches held their services in the same building,
Victory was determined to go on in the name of the "lordS. The place was
very small, and the choir had to dress on the outside of the building,but
that was no hinderance, tothe church of "God. Who were traveling on,Faith.
Rev. PETERS , first sermon was "The Promises of God*. Wish- was all
w*e had to go forth on. The growth of the church was very slow at first, bt
but the spirit of the Lord was with us.and many of our friends and I can s§r
say as is found in thelst chapter of Thess. 3rd verse,
and also as^Paul testifieth tothe Thess. J^

We held our first baptizing at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Rev. B.W.
Wade, pastor in chargethere. As we began to grow, the church saw fit to
sponsor the pastors ministerial education,wMch he finished in fIfin Cg coir)
colors.During this time we also had to in stall a loudspeaker so that the
people who came from far and near could enjoy our services,
everyone had to play a great part REv. Peters was sometimes,mi ister,musicia,
jaintor, and chomr director.
The Victory Trio isa developement of a duetfrom thelittle church.
Our faith and prayers began to materializeas new members came into the fol
fold ,so we saw fit that we needed alarger place to worship.This site that
we are now on was found andwe began purchasingit#:,and started a church
with a Little more Faith and Grace than money.Our memebership was then
near 52 ,^l(itlimany friends and well wishers. Our ,amount,, raised in the
first year was ^960.13.
SO Iclose our first miie stone by saying as"PAuls ,sayisa^ inTHimonthy!!
nI have fought a good fight ,Ihave finished my course I have kept
the faith".
