Remarkable Cure of Consumption
The nlraoet miraculous Cure that. Has been
effected in my case, prompts me to impart to those ofmy
fellow creatures who may be suffering from like a miction.
the source of relief, with a short description of my ease.
Several yearn ago, my health began to fail. I was attack
ed by general weal:ness and debility, whicli reduced me tt
the mere shadow of myself. At that stagel nought medical assistance, and expended large amounts, but without
the least, beneiicial results. That fell destroyer, CON-
8UMPTJ0N, bad already seized upon my vitals, 1 was
informed by my physicians that they could do nothing
for me, except to smooth my path to the grave, when"
most fortunately, I applied to Dr. L. J. Czapltay and aur
now a well and perfectly sound man. It ia difficult for
me to express the emotions of deepest gratitude I experience when realizing the imeasurable service 1 have received at the hands or Dr. Ciapkay, and feel rejoiced
that it is at least in my power to tender this feeble recognition of his great skill and capacity. To thu afflicted I would say, do not despair, for whatever may be
the nature of your case, I am confident that vou will
find relief by applying; to Dr. L. J. Citapkay. '-There is
balm in Gilead, and there is a physician there."

Lost Treasures.
Let us be patient, God has taken from us
The earthly treasures Upon which We leaned,
That from tlie fleeting things which lie around its.
Our clinging hearts should be forever weaned.
They have passed from us—all our broad posses
sions ; [shores i
Ships, whose white sails flung wide past distant
Lauds whose rich harvests smiled in the glad sunshine ;
Silver and gold and all our hoarded stores.
And, dearer, far, the pleasant home where gathered
Our loved aud loving round the blazing hearth ;
Where honored age on the soft cushions rested,
Aud childhood played about in frolic mirth :
Where, underneath the softened light, bent kindly
The mother's tender glance on daughters lair ;
And he on whom all leant with fond confiding,
Ilested, contented, from his daily care.
All shipwrecked in one common desolation I
The garden walks by other feet are trod ;
Tlie clinging vines by other fingers tutored
To fling their shadows o'er the grassy sod.
While earking care and deep humiliation,
In tears are mingled with our daily bread ; [us,
And the rude blasts we never thought could reach
Have spent their worst on each dclenceless head.
Let us be cheerful! The same Fky o'er-archea—
Soft rains fall on the evil and the good;
On narrow walls, and through our humbler dwelling.
God's glorious sunshine pours as rich a. flood.
Faith, hope, and love --till iu our hearts abiding,
May bear tlieir precious Iruits in us the same ;
And to the couch of suffering we may carry.
If but the cup of water, in His name.
Let ns be thankful if, in this ulTliction,
No grave is Open6(1 for tiie loving heart ;
And while we bend beneath our Father's chiding,
We yet can mourn ''each family apart."
Shoulder to shoulder let us breast the torrent,
With not one cold reproach or angry look ;
There arc some seasons, when the heart is smitten.
It cau no whisper of unkindness bri-d'e.
Our life is not in all these brief possessions ;
Our home is not in"any pleasant spot;
Pilgrims and strangers, we must journey onward,
Contented with the portion of our lot.
These earthly walls must shortly be -liflmantled.
These earthly tents be struck by angel hands ;
But to built up on u sure foundation.
Tbere, where our Father's mansion ever stands I
There shall we meet, parent and child, and dearer
Tbat earthly love which makes half heaven oi
liotne;
There shall we find our treasures rtU awaiting,
Where change, and death, and parting never
co uie.

The first and second installments will place sufficient funds in the hands ot the Company to Bend

Arizona. The assessment of 15 per cent. will, in
all probability, be sufficient to put the works iu
operation.
The title to the mines is perfect. They are situated at tho spur of the Santa Cruz Mountains,
about 25 miles from Fort Buchanan, H miles

No Fkir-n'd of Washington There.—Gov. Seymour of New York addressed the democracy of
St. Paul, Minnesota, recently, and in the course of
his remarks made a forcible aud eloquent allusion
to the fact that tho Father of his Country could
have no friend in a black republican convention.
Said Gov. Seymour :
" You have seen the great men of this republican parly go hp to their naticVal conventions.
When the roll of States was called, there was no
man there to speak for the State where Washington was born ; there was no man to answer for the
State where Jackson's ashes lie; there was no
man to respond when the land of Sump ter and
Marion was called. But how will it be when our
next democratic convention is held I Yon will
see no such spectacle as this. When we cfll the
roll of States which compose this confederation,
every commonwealth from Maine down to young
Minnesota, and still younger Oregon, will attest
the nationality of our party by the presence of its
representatives. The Atlantic will shout fcrth to
the r-acific—the great lakes to the gulf; and
wheu "ive shall nominate our finm'liditto for the
Presidency,- the loud voices of the representatives
of the whole nation, will name the man who will
administer the aflairs for the next four years."

General Jackson a Schoolmaster—Who would
have thought it? It is nevertheless true that Old
Hickory began his earcer as a teacher of an '-old
Field School," in South Carolina, and in that vocation earned the money which supported him
while he studied law. This is one among the
many curious and unexpected Tacts presented iu
Mr. Parton's forth-coming life of General Jackson,
the lirst volume of which is now in the hands of
the printer. Many eminent Am*icans hnve begun life w teachers, but we hardly expected to

The weather in Carson Valley during the past
fortnight has been clear and cold. There has been
much suffering among the Indians, and it is feared
that unless the weather moderates, there will 1)6
great mortality among them. The cattle alsd
have snlfm-ed badly, and tbeir dead carcasses aro
strewn all along the Truckee and Humboldt.—
There is no longer any hay in the country; barley
is very nigh exhausted, and yet the winter has but
just commenced. Thm far the season has been
severer than for several years previous. That venerable individual, "tho oldest inhabitant/' is entirely at fault in his calculations, for he remembers
nothing like the present iu all his pai-t history.
A school has lately been established nt Susan-
ville. Honey Lake, under tho instruction of Dr.
Statbinias, recently of Col. Lander's corps of eu-
glnccrs.
The Washoe Mixes.—In the WaMl anil Central -
company's claims at Virginia, not much active
work has been perlormcl of late. Neither arastras
nor reverbatories arc in operation. This is partly
due to snow and cold weather. The California
Company, next south ot the Contnil, struck thu
vein In their tunnel, week before last, It is a very
promising oue, but cttuitcH be advantageously
worked on account of a large stream of water running through their tunnel.
Considerable sulTering has already been experienced hi tbe mines, for want of proper food,
clothing and sleeping i[uarters ; but not more than
was to have bft8D expecled from the inconsiderate
rush of men without pecuniary means.

and had forgotten their own language.

Has been effected in my case, prompts me to impart to those ofmy fellow creatures who may be suffering from like a miction. the source of relief, with a short description of my ease. Several yearn ago, my health began to fail. I was attack ed by general weal:ness and debility, whicli reduced me tt the mere shadow of myself. At that stagel nought medical assistance, and expended large amounts, but without the least, beneiicial results. That fell destroyer, CON- 8UMPTJ0N, bad already seized upon my vitals, 1 was informed by my physicians that they could do nothing for me, except to smooth my path to the grave, when" most fortunately, I applied to Dr. L. It ia difficult for me to express the emotions of deepest gratitude I experience when realizing the imeasurable service 1 have received at the hands or Dr. Ciapkay, and feel rejoiced that it is at least in my power to tender this feeble recognition of his great skill and capacity. To thu afflicted I would say, do not despair, for whatever may be the nature of your case, I am confident that vou will find relief by applying; to Dr. L. J. Citapkay. Our clinging hearts should be forever weaned. They have passed from us—all our broad posses sions ; [shores i Ships, whose white sails flung wide past distant Lauds whose rich harvests smiled in the glad sunshine ; Silver and gold and all our hoarded stores. And, dearer, far, the pleasant home where gathered Our loved aud loving round the blazing hearth ; Where honored age on the soft cushions rested, Aud childhood played about in frolic mirth : Where, underneath the softened light, bent kindly The mother's tender glance on daughters lair ; And he on whom all leant with fond confiding, Ilested, contented, from his daily care. All shipwrecked in one common desolation I The garden walks by other feet are trod ; Tlie clinging vines by other fingers tutored To fling their shadows o'er the grassy sod. While earking care and deep humiliation, In tears are mingled with our daily bread ; [us, And the rude blasts we never thought could reach Have spent their worst on each dclenceless head. Let us be cheerful! The same Fky o'er-archea— Soft rains fall on the evil and the good; On narrow walls, and through our humbler dwelling. God's glorious sunshine pours as rich a. flood. Faith, hope, and love --till iu our hearts abiding, May bear tlieir precious Iruits in us the same ; And to the couch of suffering we may carry. If but the cup of water, in His name. Let ns be thankful if, in this ulTliction, No grave is Open6(1 for tiie loving heart ; And while we bend beneath our Father's chiding, We yet can mourn ''each family apart." Shoulder to shoulder let us breast the torrent, With not one cold reproach or angry look ; There arc some seasons, when the heart is smitten. It cau no whisper of unkindness bri-d'e. Our life is not in all these brief possessions ; Our home is not in"any pleasant spot; Pilgrims and strangers, we must journey onward, Contented with the portion of our lot. These earthly walls must shortly be -liflmantled. These earthly tents be struck by angel hands ; But to built up on u sure foundation. Tbere, where our Father's mansion ever stands I There shall we meet, parent and child, and dearer Tbat earthly love which makes half heaven oi liotne; There shall we find our treasures rtU awaiting, Where change, and death, and parting never co uie. Seymour of New York addressed the democracy of St. Paul, Minnesota, recently, and in the course of his remarks made a forcible aud eloquent allusion to the fact that tho Father of his Country could have no friend in a black republican convention. Said Gov. Seymour : " You have seen the great men of this republican parly go hp to their naticVal conventions. When the roll of States was called, there was no man there to speak for the State where Washington was born ; there was no man to answer for the State where Jackson's ashes lie; there was no man to respond when the land of Sump ter and Marion was called. But how will it be when our next democratic convention is held I Yon will see no such spectacle as this. When we cfll the roll of States which compose this confederation, every commonwealth from Maine down to young Minnesota, and still younger Oregon, will attest the nationality of our party by the presence of its representatives. The Atlantic will shout fcrth to the r-acific—the great lakes to the gulf; and wheu "ive shall nominate our finm'liditto for the Presidency,- the loud voices of the representatives of the whole nation, will name the man who will administer the aflairs for the next four years."
