T}ie land, -where it- can be irrigated, is peculiarly adapted to the cultivation ol the vine. '1 he
grapes giwn in this vicinity are pronounced
by ail iu be far superior to tlio^e raised in any
other part ofthe oiute. Oranges, figs, apricots,
apples, pears, peaches, olives, pummegrauates.
&;e. ¡¿c. are also cultivated with success.
Plenty uf wood for building, fencing, kc.

potton wood are abundant.
Two steamers, besides s.-.iliug craft, ply constantly up and down the Coast, aii'urding every
facility for the conveyance of produce.—
(drapes sent to San Francisco last fall, when
properly packed, arrived in the best possible
condition.
The proprietors ef such lands as are owned
by right ot good titles, offer to dispose of them
at prices exceedingly reasonable, it is probable that the Commissioners appointed by Congress to settle the land titles in this State, will
hold a session in this city during the ensuing
summer. If so, ail difficulty relative to tlie
purchase and improvement uf our tortile fields
will be remuved.
The military posts established for oai- pro-
tcction^oo the frontiers have lately been reinforced, audit is believed that the protection now
afforded from Indians is sufficient tu secure us
from any further trouble with thepi.
We might pursue the subject further, for it
is oue susceptible of any amount of demonstra- ¡
tion, but our limited space forbids. Suffice it j
to say that this is one of the best agricultural
districts to be found in the State, and in no
other part of the Union will capital, judiciously invested, yield as good a profit.
It is said that California is the climate of the
World. However true this may be, certain
it is that tbis section of the State is the climate
of California. The rains, while they are sufficient for agricultural purposes, are not of as
Jong continuation as tbey are in the northern
part of the State, and, except in the mountains, snow is seldom seen. The beat of sum-
pier is made endurabte by the purity of the atmosphere and tlie light sea breezes with which
we aré favored.
