COMMUNIQUE No. 75.
CABO DELGADO PROVINCE.
1. On the 6th September, 1966, there were skirmishes in the
zone of MOCIMBOA'DA PRAIA, "between Prelimo guerrillas and colonialist soldiers. The Portuguese soldiers had arrested many people
and were taking them to' a concentration camp. As soon as the gue3 L-
llas got word of the matter, they ambushed the enemy. Luring the
ambush, the people freed themselves and escaped into the bush.
Our guerrillas captured German mauzew, calibre 7.$Omm, model Ho.3
41 hand-grenades and ammunitions.
2. On the 5th October, 1966, a company of Prelimo guerri:.
attacked the Administrative Post of Ng?apa. The guerrillas arrived
exactly at a time when the Portuguese soldiers were having their
lunch. The guerrillas stopped at a certain distance. The enemy
became aware of the guerrillas before the latter opened fire, and
they panicked at the sight of a large group of guerrillas. Without
wasting time, the Prelimo fighters concentrated bazooka and machine-
gun fire against the enemy. At least forty(40) Portuguese soldiers
were killed. Only a small group of sentries answered our fire,
slightly injuring one of our fighters.
3. On the 6th October, 1966, a militia, stationed in the
-1DUMBE region, attacked the enemy in the MES SAL 0 area, killing
12 Portuguese soldiers and capturing some weapons. There were no
casualties on our side.
4. On the 11th October, 1966, when a convoy of lorries,
numbering 14, was passing through a road between CHAI and NANTOMBA,
met an ambush prepared by our fighters. The three lorries v/hich \
on the front line were destroyed by anti-car mines, causing .. ./2
