December 24, 1934.
Dear father and mother:
Was so glad to hear
Just exactly a week, I believe, since your
especially enjoyable was to fiftd a.page in
writing once more after about a monthT It
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed it. But I wondered if It did
not take too much of your strength. Don't try to do too much. It
seems that you are always having beautiful incidents.happen along %
with your trials. After your bther operation at Monte Sano Hospital
you came out with so many stories betokening the Lord's care.. Since
I cannot be there, I am "glad that so many' others are being kind to
you. It makes me feel that as much is bein# done as can be done.
from you again today,
last letter came. And
mother's familiar hand-
was so interesting, and
^he letter that told, about the beginning of
the trouble has never been deceived. Of all letters that should have
come, that was the one. It wag too bad to break the record of six
years. This Is the first one to be lost. And it was not because
of our moving, either. For I received the next one after it before
we moved, between my Sea Place (Haiju) and Red River trips. I do
not like to^trouble you about writing details again, but I do want
to know a few facts about what the trouble^ was; and when the operation
took place, and where. Maybe you ahve already done so,after receiving
my other letter saying yours had been lost.

Since capt. Swinehart had already said he
was willing to speak if his aunt had not m^de other arrangements,
I think it would have been all right for you to-arrange a meeting
for him; but of course you could not know that. I am sorry if you
did not get to talk with him,for he is very interesting. Miss Wagner
is going on furlough next Spring, and expressed a desire the other
day of meeting you. I Shall let you know just when she is to arrive.
She is going on a Japanese boat to San Francisco, and from there takes
a President boat around the Canal to New vork. I hope this meeting
of people at the harbor does not get burdensome to you. You have had
to do a good deal of it the past few years, and eaclitime it consumes
no little time'and expense.
I don't know where the cop^ of ^Silver Trumpet11
could be if It is' not there. I bought a copy and lent it to the
Currier boys, and they returned it. I am pretty sure I left it there.
The copy I have here is 'one borrowed from Bruce Hunt. But It does
not matter"particularly, because I do not need it here.
