Dear Father
Kimwha, Korea,

Since I am. late, again writing this week, I have two
etters of yours to answer, one was here "when I returned from the
nofth yesterday morning and thelother came during the day yesterday

As I began writing, the baby came up to handle the keys with great
joy, as she had no^ seen the typewriter for a number of days while
I was gone. Typing is one of her chief delights. So Ruth picked
her up and has srone out Into the yard. 1 I;

During the meetings-I got only about four hours sleep a day, and
then had a night/ s ride on the train coming home,, reaching" here
at ..ten yesterday. First I unpacked my baggage and then we had
lunch, and then I was so tired I lay down'for an hour's rest.
While I was resting two old friends from voung Pyung came in.
One is the chundosa who hac '*rr,* the work of a pastor in that
circuit for five years and the other is the leading exhorter who
always entertained me when I made visits at that village years
ago. That-is the first village I visited and where I met'Han .

That circuit is prospering now, under the leadership
of this chundosa, who is a good worker, and the help of Miss
Edwards, who frequently visits there now * -hey are building one
or two new churclies. They brought me the picture of one j xst
completed, which I had helped a little; and they wanted a promise
from me to help out on another which is soon to be built- They
had also heard that I was leaving soon and said they had always
wanted to visit me while I was here and see the new Kimwha church-

This morning I read the mail that had come while I
was awayand then Ruth went on a picnic with the kindergarten
mothers and their, children, and soon afiter she had gone, I found
I was so sleepy I couldn't do anything and lay down. I must have
slept four or five hours, &itfl then had lunch. Then I went out to
weed a little whiiefin the garden. Ruth came back just a little
while ago- At any social gathering she has to take the lead in
entertaining, and"I am afraid not much would be done if toe were
no t alon &.
Again now for five days we are having to keep in.
darkness ever^f night, practicing for air raids. 'These things are
certainly tiresome and utterly useless. Always announced beforehand and' kept up steadily for a number of d*ys and then dropped
for months, I can't see what good they would be by way of practice
for unexpected danste
