Dear Father:
Seoul,_May"5/'1935.

I dated this lettef, it occurred to me that this same day
in 1912, when grandpa Maupin$was sick at our house; and

Sunday'1.'' I wrote in my last letter about .looking up my Diary record
March 29 of this year. I have found some interesting items in other years
also. " On March 29,§1916 theihigh school 'debating team had dinner at our
house. The day before in my■diarybl wrote: ^Mother is getting ready for
dinner^ tomorrow night.'* There-were thirteen guests, and~I wrote on that
night:wEveryorte wa3 present at the party tonight. Had three course dinner,
(l) chicke'n with.dumplings and gr°,vy, peas in patty shells, browned potatoes, hot rolls, grape ice, sweet peach pickel,§(2) fruit salad on lettuce,
afers, (3) ice cream, white caramel cake, and potato caramel cake. Mr. *
«ellington Pierce spoke Lincoln's Gettysburg Address which he paraphrased
to -fit, Hubert Kelley spoke, Morris 'Dreyfus.on School Journalism, Mr.
laugjilin on The Winner, Mr. Simpson on The Good;Loser* Mr. Holmes on the
Central Spirit, and.Nelson on "Has 3 Gens'*. They left at 11:10."

draperies for the dining room, and 'father got electric 1ight bulbs for the

April 1: ^Mother hung some pictures In her room and in the sewing room.
She found some pink,'And blue cloth grandma gave her at least ten years ago
and covered her shirt waist box and made a pillow for her rocker from it.
She said, fMamma, I thank you for it,fand she thought she would be pleased*
