Songdo, Korea* Bee* 50# Jhis evening I want to telI||rou of some of the Interesting! evente of our school during this term. We have our commencement in March you remember end begin the new year in April so we are now in the midst of the second term of the school* After the Summer vacation iff beglth on the second of Sept* and save various holidays wefhave continued until nowt H After the school work was well begun the next thing on the school calendar was the educational trips that are now quite an established occurrence in our.school* These trips take the girls by classes with several teachers inrf&eh class group totthe different places of interest in Korea and even into China* I always breathe a sigh of relief when they have|all gone and returned safely. The plan is of course a good one since lit affords many girls an opportunity to see the beauty%,of their own country, which they would perhaps other wise n&v&r do* And as these trips are as nearly compulsory as they can be mads, practically all of the girls are able to take advantage oflthem* Both chronologically and personally to me the next event of special interest was the celebration of my birthday. You ray remember that Oct* 19th came on Sunday so of course the actual day could not be celebrated* My family gave a tea i%my honor on Saturday afternoon to which my missionary friends were invited. On Monday afternoon the students gave a lovely reception for me| Their program consisting of songs most of which were written especially for the occasion, and Music was very enjoyable. A group of precious first year children sang ^Happy Birthday"|in Bnglish and one of the third year girls read a very well written article of good wishesland congratulationsland then they presented me with a most beautiful black silk crepe turu- makie (Korean coat)* It is lined with green silk and padded with cotton and is light and very warm. I had been wanting one for a long time so I was very greatly pleased* I appreciated!;the gift very much indeed hut of course the thing I appreciated the most was the ex- presson of lovet ft|i | >^- • On theffirst oflJtov, at seven o'clock in the evening a very lov#~ Igr wedding eeremonyfwas held in our Ohapel. The bride was one of our teachersf a young woman who has come up through our Primary and High Schools, She then went to Ewha, our Womans1 College where she graduated two years ago from the Music Department, She is a dear and yery pretty* Her mother has for many years been a faithful Bible Woman* The young man she married was present at her graduation fecltal and it seems that he has been wanting her ever since* He too is a Christian of longstanding and they are very happy* ; A little whilefago we had a Chrysanthemum show in our Chapel *a We asked the students to bring flowers from their homes. They brought eome exquisite ones| iThere were a large number of varieties and also if colors* The Koreans love flowers and exhibit great skill in rait* ing them. We certainly enjoyed having these beautiful blossoms to look at every day.*! Next yearfwe mean to^give out Chrysanthemum slips and have the children grow them* I I th* addition offffiower Culture and Home Gardening will we trust
