Assignment: Island built for oil well site off Seal Beach. 51/53: Jim Heid of Monterey Oil Co. atop wooden tower on tiny island adjusting warning light and (neg. 53) waving to tug boat to come & pick him up. 96/97: Jim Heid adjusting horn high over island (closeup). 47: Beacon light must be tended every 24 hours. Jim Heid checking flasher. 24: Heid stepping from tug 'Brother Jonathan' skippered by Frank Jones, who visits offshore island every 24 hours to check its signaling devices. 41: Flying leap back into boat tossed by afternoon chop. 66/67: 'Brother Jonathan' approaching island".
