Smith (Pomona Naval Mothers Club).; Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Olmo. Date: 1954-05-07. Reporter: Brown. Assignment: Naval Hospital Rowboats; Monday. 23-24/25-26: Boats nosed up on landing while dignitaries await launching ceremony. 28: Mrs. J.P. Smith of Pomona Navy Mothers Club, christens boat with vial of distilled water, assisted by Hospital Corpsman James Hammett. 30: Capt. Julian Love, hospital commander, assists wife into boat for 'shakedown cruise.' 31-32/33: Capt. Julian Love and wife on 'shakedown cruise' in rowboat. 34: Women of the Whittier and Inglewood Naval Mothers clubs assisted into boat by Capt. Julian Love. 35: Women of Whittier and Inglewood Naval Mothers club go on cruise with sailor at the oars. 29: Jan Stafford, representing Whittier Naval Mothers Club, christens boat, assisted by Hospital Corpsman James Hammett. Others, l. to r.: Wm. Andrews; Robert Daboul; and Dick Leinenwever, boat builders. Capt. Julian Love & Lt. Sidney Weinstein, welfare & recreation officer, and women of sponsoring clubs".
