Lark, Chief Electrician's Mate; Irene Lark; Gail Lark, 4; Arthur Giesenhagen; Sam Davis; Minka Zorka, Sweetheart of Minesweeper; Donald Prather; Paul Davis; Jim Richards.; Supplementary material reads: "Gershon. City desk. Illus. Minesweepers back. No. 1: First time Lt. Alfred G. Rusillio, 5719 Clark Street, Long Beach, commanding officer of the minesweeper Toucan holds his 2 1/2 months daughter Patricia for first time as he returns from Korea duty. No. 2: 'Boy-San'. That's the Japanese name crew of Minesweeper Symbol gave mascot they picked up in Japan. Left to right: Jack Ryder, Storekeeper 1/c; Hugh Brown, Seaman; and Joe Scala, Pipefitter, 1/c. 3-4: Chief Electrician's Mate G.M. Lark; wife Irene; and daughter Gail, 4 years. They greeted him on his return from Korea. 5-6: Arthur Giesenhagen, Clark, Neb.; and Sam Davis, Rayville, La.; get chummy with Minka Zorka, of Long Beach, voted 'Sweetheart of Minesweeper Murrelet.' 7-8: Same as above with Arthur Giesenhagen; Sam Davis; Minka Zorka; Donald Prather; Paul Davis; and Jim Richards."
