Patti Caraco -- 19 years ("Miss Port of Long Beach"); Joseph Patrick Bishop (President Long Beach Harbor Commission); Mrs. Roberta Shoemaker (widow of designer of bridge).; Supplementary material reads: "gershon. city desk. illus. Long Beach Frew'y [sic] bridge. Left to rite: Patti Caraco, 19, "Miss Port of Long Beach", Joseph Patrick Bishop, president, Long Beach Harbor Commission. Mrs. Roberta Shoemaker, widow of late Robert Shoemaker who designed the new bridge, Jacki Carter, 20, "Miss Welcome to Long Beach". Bridge dedication links Long Beach freeway to downtown Long Beach and coast highway via 9th street. One shot: Bishop cuts ribbons, gals let balloons go up and Mrs. Shoemaker made like cutting ribbon with imitation shears. One shot balloons in air, each carried merchandise order from Long Beach merchants".
