Mrs. Ruth Beckstrom -- 25 years (1507 Penmar Avenue Venice who gave birth to a baby boy at 4:11 A.M. and voted at 4:11 P.M.); Mrs. Alice Stoffel (at voting precinct); Wayne Barkhouse (ambulance attendant); Mrs. Helen Morgan (judge of precinct); Roland Hodges (ambulance attendant).; Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Gaze. Date: 1952-11-04. Reporter: Gaze. Assignment: New mother votes. 29: Mrs. Ruth Beckstrom, 25, of 1507 Penmar ave., Venice, signs register to vote, held by Mrs. Alice Stoffel, inspector of Precinct No. 2219-C. In background is ambulance attendant Wayne Barkhouse. Mrs. Beckstrom gave birth to a baby boy at 4:11 a.m., voted at 4:11 p.m. 30: Mrs. Ruth Beckstrom, 25, 1507 Penmar ave., Venice, who gave birth to baby boy at 11 a.m. today, signs register to vote at 4:11 p.m. Ambulance attendants, who took her from St. John's Hospital, Santa Monica, to her Venice polling place were, l to r: Roland Hodges and Wayne Barkhouse. 81: Mrs. Ruth Beckstrom, 25, of 1507 Penmar ave., Venice, who gave birth to a baby boy at 4:11 a.m., is given ballot stub after voting at 4:11 p.m. by Mrs. Helen Morgan, judge of precinct 2219-C, Venice. Ambulance men are Roland Hodges (left) and Wawyne Barkhouse. 82: Mrs. Ruth Beckstrom, 25, of 1507 Penmar ave., Venice, who gave birth to baby boy at 4:11 a.m. and voted at 4:11 p.m. is taken down narrow stairway from her polling place by ambulance attendants Roland Hodges (at head of stretcher) and Wayne Barkhouse. She was transported from St. John's hospital, Santa Monica, to her precinct in ambulance".
