Wilson Observatory. 13-14: Inside the 100" telescope tower is Joe Hickox, solar observer seen in one picture making a setting and in the other gazing up at huge tubing of the 100" telescope. Hickox has been on the job as a solar observer at the Mt. Wilson Observatory for 25 years. 158: Joseph Hickox, solar observer at tower dome switch looking north toward 100 inch telescope dome. 150 solar tower seen in background. 159: Hickox in foreground with view of 100 inch telescope dome in background. 22: Outside view of the 150-foot solar tower as seen looking north from the 60-foot telescope tower. 21: Joseph Hickox in foreground with 24" flat illuminized mirror of the 60-foot sun tower, seen looking west toward television towers. 41-40, 117: General view of the 100" telescope dome looking to the north. Dome is 100 feet high. 116-119: Inside the 150-foot sun tower where sun and spots are observed daily. In picture Joseph Hickox is seen making notations of sun spots on paper projection chart. 10,478 projections have been made here since 1910.
