Illus. Lurline trouble. One shot shows two lifeboats. Nearest one was first one to be cradled while passengers and visitors waited. Rear boat is directly over gangplank and passengers and friends were not allowed to board until lifeboat was secured, as a safety guard. Boats had been left dangling from 12:15 until 2:20 because sailors quit lifeboat drill to go ashore and eat noon meal due to stop-work meeting of cooks and stewards in jurisdictional row.
