Description	3 images. Gambling Away Stock, 10 December 1951. Thelma M. Snyder (housewife) -- 40 years; Claims she gambled away $20,000 stock gift from her aunt in few hours in Las Vegas.; Supplementary material reads: "Keating. Hurley stock suit. Illus. Housewife Thelma M. Snyder, 40, who claims she gambled away a $20,000 stock gift from her aunt in a few hours at Las Vegas, Nev., yesterday was accused of appropriating the stock. The charge was made in a recovery suit brought by her uncle, Jesse A. Hancock, administrator of the estate of an aunt, Mrs. Mattie Hancock Hurley, who died last year at 71. Hancock brought to court Handwriting Expert David A. Black, who told superior Judge James H. Pope that signatures on the stock transfers were not those of Mrs. Hurley. Black said the signatures bore characteristics of Mrs. Snyder's handwriting. Mrs. Snyder insists that before Mrs. Hurley died she assigned the 500 shares of Southern California Edison Co. stock to her. 'I sold the stock and went to Las Vegas where I did a lot of drinking,' she related. 'I can't even remember the name of the casino where I lost the money, but when I got home it was gone.'".
