One shot -- Chaplain Leigh Pink on platform leads audience and high-ranking officers (left foreground) and crew members of three re-commissioned destroyers in invocation at re-commissioning ceremonies at Naval Base, Los Angeles, Terminal Island. 2 closeups show Vice Admiral J.L. Hall, Commander, Western Sea Frontier and Commander, Pacific Reserve Fleet, addressing audience and crews and Rear Admiral Burton C. Davis, Commander, Long Beach Groups, Pacific Reserve Fleet. Other shots are general of commissioning with flags being raised on sterns of background nearest dock, U.S.S. Owen, outboard of her U.S.S. Prichett and taken from gun turret of U.S.S. Cushing. Where only two destroyers show, the shot is taken from U.S.S. Cushing showing U.S.S. Owen aft and crowd on dock. Two shots of Army's new Combat Infantry Badge with star. Star denotes wearer served in infantry combat in both World War II and Korea. No star, wearer served in only one of the two conflicts".
