Latham. ; Supplementary material reads: "Gershon, City desk. Illus. Navy renews white uniforms at command change. No. 1-2, left to right: Rear Admiral John A. Snackenberg and Rear Admiral Roland N. Smoot, talking informally after Smoot relieved Snackenberg as Commander, Mine Force, Pacific Fleet, in ceremonies at Naval base, Los Angeles on Terminal Island. No. 3: Admiral Snackenberg, front left, Admiral Smoot at mike saluting as Smoot's flag is raised and he takes command. (see above). Officers in rear left to right are: Lt. Commander F.Y. Alkazin, Lt.
