| Abstract | The current most effective drug delivery route for retinal diseases is via intravitreal injection, although it is unclear why there is substantial variation of dosing frequency requirements among patients to achieve visual recovery. There are a number of factors in the vitreous that could affect drug distribution, including changes in vitreous composition as a result of aging or vitrectomy. The initial hypothesis was that the state of the vitreous may be an important determinant in drug distribution in the eye, and to be able to study the effects of vitreous changes on pharmacokinetics, a number of methods were developed. |
