A Happy New Year
to all our Headers
JANUARY was the month consecrated to
•* Janus, one of the deities of ancient Rome.
His name means the door-opener, he is the
janitor of the year. He was depicted with two
faces, one looking backwards, the other looking
forwards. This double look is characteristic as
we stand at the portals of the year.
In looking backward at the Old Year, let us
remember the goodness of the Lord. " It is of
the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not. They are new
every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
" Thou shalt remember all the way which the
Lord thy God led thee." Memory may recall
trials, disappointments, struggles, our own
defections—but crowning the year with His
goodness is our gracious God. As we look back
on what He has wrought for us during the past
twelve months, we are encouraged to step forward without fear.
In looking forward into the New Year, our
eyes cannot see but a few steps ahead. Let us
then, make all our plans provisionally, as James
advises, " If the Lord will, we shall live, and do
this, or that." But let us make our plans. Set
yourself some mark, some standard, some aim.
Let our consecrated resolve be that this year
we will tell more of Jesus and lead them to
Him, we will read more of His word and seek
to live it out, we will pray more, give more,
worship more, and attempt more for God and
His Kingdom than ever we have done before.
We can if we will; and if we love the Lord, we
will.
Our New " Redemption Tidings "
Many weeks of planning and much hard
work has been put into giving our magazine a
new look. We feel sure that you will like it.
But an attractive cover is not enough to make
it the superlative organ we wish it to be, we
need rich and satisfying contents. Illuminating
and impressive articles are all too scarce. Have
you ever thought of writing? While we certainly do appreciate those who have toiled with
the pen to fill our waiting pages, we do need
that others shall develop their gifts also. A live
paper needs variety, both in writers and themes.
Let us pray that God will make Redemption
Tidings a tremendous force for righteousness in
the land, and a resounding testimony to our
Pentecostal message. We wish souls to be saved,
bodies healed, people filled with the Spirit, saints,
refreshed, instructed, admonished and nourished
JESUS, SAVIOUR, BAPTIZER, HEALER AND COMING LORD
MADE UNTO US OF GOD WISDOM, RIGHTEOUSNESS SANCTIFICATION & REDEMPTION
