Vol. 17. No. 1. JANUARY 1st, 1941. Twopence. THE VISION FOR 1941, The Contemplation of Eternal Triumph. 1 Tkn. 6:15 and 16, with Psalm 45. T. WOODS, Elland. THE great Apostle of the Gentiles was facing a situation which Was threatening. The clouds were already darkening the horizon. Timothy was somewhat afraid. Many of the saints were turning back. A departure from the faith had already begun. Things in the natural were anything but promising. Paul directs Timothy's vision to a Potentate Who exercises exclusive and complete sway, a King Who rules over every existing monarchy, a Lord Who is fully and finally supreme—JESUS THE CHRIST. To enjoy any amount of spiritual success and ascendancy in these last days we must have the vision of the Eternal Dignity of the Lord Jesus. There is something that backgrounds the cross. His human limit suffered the full shock of eternal judgment for the "whosoever." It is the Man Christ Jesus Who brings us to God. But let us remember that He was in the beginning with God, acknowledged as Lord by cherub and seraphim, existing with God in blessed equality. After His death and resurrection, He holds these glorious attributes in His double nature, as Man and as God. He is the only One Who possesses immortality, dwelling in the light that no man can approach, far removed from the realm of human power and reason. What amazing majesty and dignity! What resplendent jlory and power! Though unseen, though hidden in the near Presence of Jehovah, yet we can taste the benefits of the Person of our glorious Saviour King. There are possibilities of us being raised to this dignified order, and tasting some of the powers and joys of this exalted position (Eph. 2: 6, Heb. 6: 5). The Holy Ghost will take of the things that are Christ's and reveal them unto us (1 Cor. 2: 9-12). While the world rumbles heavily on, and great apprehension lead's the ,peoples to despair, the Holy Ghost seeks to lead us into further truth concerning the King Invisible, Immortal. There are glorious possibilities of us rising in these last days to this place of exalted fellowship. God wants us to live in the Throne Room. We need to view the situation as it really is. The world may lie in tine pleasure-laden lap of the enemy, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God overcomes the world (1 John 5: 4). This vision of triumph has its first realisation in the heart. Psalm 45: 1 is the Psalm of Kingly Majesty. The Psalmist commences with the words, "My heart." Everything depends on the condition of our hearts. The previous psalm is full of despair. God seems to have hidden away. Now there is a change. It is not Jehovah Who has changed; the change is in the experience of the Psalmist. He is experiencing an inward warming of the heart. The literal meaning is "My heart boileth, or bubbleth." This is our need in the present hour of hate and malice. Whilst the heathen rage and the people imagine vain things, may we seek for the warming of ortir hearts, the perfect Love flooding us, wanning us with Heaven's affection. This will bring revelation. There was once an old woman whom everybody despised. God warmed her heart, and a burning love for the children around her was born. She gathered them together, and told them the simple story of the Love of Jesus. They stayed on and listened until the mothers, anxious about their welfare, came to seek them. They too, were constrained to stay, and eventually the husbands came to seek their families, and the result was a lovely revival, 150 accepted the Saviour. May God give us warm heartsl Maybe we have substituted clever expositions for this priceless heritage. May the refining fire touch our hearts again. May the warm glow of the King's Love burn anew, until this cold and bitter age knows something of the Dying. Love of Calvary's Lamb.
