A Joyful New Year
JOY — Unspeakable Joy—
Heavenly Joy—the Joy of
the Lord—Joy in the Holy
Ghost. Joy which comes
down — it is not found in the
material, sensual, earthly or carnal, but is heavenly, divine,
eternal and supernatural.
Back in the distant ages of
eternity it is revealed that heaven
is a place of joy, for when the
foundations of the earth were laid
then the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God
shouted for joy {Job xxxviii. 7).
Eden was a place of unsullied
"joy" {Isaiah li. 3). Sorrow,
sadness, mourning, tears, weeping,
murmuring, despondency, gloom
and melancholy came when sin
entered the world.
The first gospel message was
one of " good tidings of great joy"
{Luke ii. 10).
The "joy of salvation" be thine
this year (Psalm li. 12). Sins
forgiven, eternal life possessed,
children of God, born again, delivered from darkness and the
power of Satan. May you know
an increasing measure of the "joy
in the Holy Ghost " {Romans xiv.
17). The joy of the Comforter,
glorifying Jesus, showing things
to come, guiding unto all truth,
giving power to witness. Holy
Ghost joy be thine.
This joy is thy strength; may
the God of hope fill you with all
joy and peace in believing that
you may be supernaturally strong
to fight, run, wrestle and triumph.
They who have this heavenly
joy do not descend to the pits of
gloom and despair, when tribulation comes; they rather "glory"
in it {Romans v. 3), and when
their names are cast out as evil,
and they are hated, slighted, and
reproached "for the Son of Man's
sake " {Luke vi. 22), they leap for
joy, and should trials come upon
them with fiery intensity they
do not hang their harps upon the
willows, but they count it all joy
{Jas. i. 2), and rejoice knowing
that the trying of their faith being
much more precious than of gold
that perisheth, will be found
unto honour and glory at the
appearing of Jesus Christ.
Should the coming year bring
trials, tribulation, persecutions, reproaches, hatred, distress, clouds
or storms, may the Lord give you
all a JOYFUL NEW YEAR.
