| Abstract | In an effort to comply with No Child Left Behind, schools are seeking innovative approaches to improve student outcomes. This research is a qualitative case-study of a failing high school that elected to join a partnership for school reform. The unique features of this partnership include a component of co-construction and a triumvirate of partners comprised of a school, community, and university. Using data collected from a review of the literature, stakeholder interviews, partnership observations, and document analyses, the process of co-construction with elements of dialogue and mutual shared learning emerged as a means for partnership success. Also explored are persistent barriers that cause educational partnerships to fail, strategies to overcome the barriers, and possible attributes that materialize as a result of a successful co-constructed community, school, and university partnership for school reform. |
