Restricted until | Restricted until 21 Apr. 2010.; Two years later, the exemption option has been repealed and no real infrastructure put in place to aid special needs students on the CAHSEE. Abstract | Beginning in 2006, all California high school students in the public school system had to pass the California High School Exit Examination, or CAHSEE, in order to receive a diploma. After a law suit that pitted special needs students against the California Department of Education, special needs students were offered an exemption from the CAHSEE because the test was considered discriminatory. The exemption, however, was only temporary until local school districts were able to create special programs to prepare disabled students adequately to pass the exam. |
