Abstract | On May 11, 2005, Sgt. Ananda McClure committed suicide in the apartment in Santa Monica where he and his newly wed wife had just started a life together. McClure served in three tours in Iraq and had been back from his last tour for seven months when he shot himself. -- McClure injured himself in Mosul, Iraq on his last tour while escorting a convoy into dangerous territory. A roadside bomb hit his unit's vehicle and his spine was crushed by the blast. He had surgery several months after he returned from the war. -- War was not the only traumatic experience that McClure endured. As a child he was shipped off to Hare Krishna camps where he suffered years of abuse. The camps were located in the U.S. as well as Northern India. -- McClure suffered throughout his life and now those who loved him are the ones suffering. |
