| Abstract | Bad Religion, once the toast of the underground punk scene in Los Angeles, has stood the test of time and after thirty years stands near the top of the punk rock pantheon. From their breakthrough album Suffer to their most recent work, The New Maps of Hell, Bad Religion continues to record, perform and tour with regularity and has never compromised their musical vision. The band has survived lineup changes, the dark days of being on a major label and have overcome the odds in staying relevant in a genre that often see short lived success. Bad Religion’s heady lyrics, three-part harmonies and tireless work ethic are trademarks that many bands in the punk scene today lack. After thirty years the band is still going strong and the following is an exploration of their musical journey. |
