| Abstract | This study assessed the needs in parent education programs for parents of toddlers, ages one to three, and whether existing parenting programs address them. Using a qualitative approach, an open-ended survey covering an assortment of topics was administered online. The data was analyzed, and themes were extracted. Public parenting forums were analyzed and used to compare common themes found among respondents and in parent discussion boards. Parents reported the need for information related to areas in stages of emotional and intellectual development, teaching right versus wrong, coping skills for their own well-being, disciplining techniques, learning about family member relationships with children, stages of social development and promoting social interactions, and issues surrounding race and family finances. |
