| Abstract | The characteristics of Native Hawaiian students who attended four year universities are studied in order to identify the factors which influenced these students to reverse transfer to two year community colleges. This study is a secondary analysis of cross-sectional data collected for the three year longitudinal study, gathered as part of the College Persistence, Transfer, and Success of Kamehameha Students (CP-TASKS ) Project. CP-TASKS is a joint project of the Kamehameha Schools and the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis at the Rossier School of Education of the University of Southern California. The study found five factors to be significant in the reverse transfer decision. These factors included: the number of semesters taken off, the participants age, self-perceived discrimination, financial aid and "Hawaiian blood quantum". |
