| Abstract | The purpose of this case study is to learn about the challenges and victories in the formation of a partnership between an urban high school, a prestigious university within the urban setting and a community organization for the purpose of transforming the high school. The study examines factors that contributed to or detracted from efforts to co-construct a partnership intended to equal decision making power between all partners for the purpose of transforming an urban high school.; The best practices as well as the challenges in this partnership are identified in order to aid other partnerships that are created for the transformation of schools, enabling them to become effective learning environment for all students (particularly African American students in urban schools) and empower them to be contributing persons in their communities, regardless of their residence or their ethnicity. This project also identified practices that contributed to the potential demise or failure of this kind of partnership. |
