| Abstract | This work focuses on developing a feasible access control mechanism for Semantic Networks. As the amount of information grows in quantity, it requires becoming machine processable in order to handle this growth and use the information. To achieve the goal, semantics are added to the information, resulting in semantic networks and the semantic web. In order to be able to use this medium for data and information of all privilege levels, it is necessary to develop access control models that are flexible, cater to the growth of the network, be efficient and be aware of the semantics of the network. A model with these features, based on a prior model, was developed and studied in this thesis. This work was done at the Distributed Scalable Systems Division, at the Information Sciences Institute at Marina Del Rey, California. |
