| Abstract | The purpose of this project was to create an educational tool to prepare patients for orthodontic treatment. Previous studies have demonstrated a need for written material that can introduce the concept of mechanics in an easily understood format; the more acceptable this material would be to the patient, the more likely the patient would be to actually read it. The model of a fantasy fiction novel was used to ensure the relatability of the project. Orthodontic ideas were introduced in order to promote dialogue between doctor and patient; a factor necessary to increase compliance and resultant treatment success. |
